According to regional non-profit, Colorado Succeeds, 86% of state employers say that the skills gap is a threat to their business. The “skills gap” is real in Colorado, and with relatively little new blood coming into the industry, the problem is forecast to get worse as existing tradespeople age out of the workforce. While contractors and business owners are feeling the impacts of the gap nationwide, Denver is a particularly unique market. The region’s considerably high demand for housing is clashing against the shortage of labor, inflating home prices and causing disruption for business owners and customers.
For these reasons, Fine Homebuilding and its industry partners are headed to Denver to host a #KeepCraftAlive Networking event. Located at TradeCraft Industries on October 25, the event will feature a panel discussion with some of Colorado’s best builders and with Fine Homebuilding brand ambassador, John Hourihan. Moderated by Fine Homebuilding editor, Matt Millham, the panel will talk about the issues surrounding the skills gap and what they and other builders can do to continue to grow their businesses in a tightening labor market. The panel discussion will be followed by a casual networking session where attendees can connect with their industry associates.
